Communicating Employee Value
Learners improved internship placement interview performance by learning how to communicate their value to employers.

The Problem
The International Hotel and Tourism Industry Management school was not satisfied with student performance in internship placement interviews.
They wanted to increase the placement rate to ensure that all students successfully received placement.
Needs Analysis
First, I needed to diagnose the cause of performance issues by collecting triangulated data: student surveys, performance observations, and SME interviews.
I identified two key issues:
-
Students were not aware of interview FAQs, expected answers, and how to prepare.
-
Students were unable to communicate their unique value to employers.

The Solution
The project faced real constraints: high-intake volume meant limited development time alongside ongoing facilitation. So I used a Successive Approximation Model, building and refining the program iteratively across intakes rather than all at once.
Simple, Memorable, Frameworks

I developed a blended module that combined Articulate Storyline eLearning and instructor-led sessions to prepare students for common interview questions, anchored by simple, memorable frameworks .
Audience-Focused Thinking
From there, I built a personal-branding journey that went deeper than rehearsed answers: students learned to identify and communicate their value to employers through CVs, LinkedIn, and interview practice. The modules were then integrated into a single learning solution supporting end-to-end interview readiness.
